About the Lake County Vector Control District
The Lake County Vector Control District is a local public health agency dedicated to protecting the community from vector-borne diseases and public nuisances. We achieve this by monitoring and controlling populations of mosquitoes, ticks, yellowjackets, and other disease-carrying vectors.
Office Manager
We're seeking a skilled and organized Office Manager to join our team. In this key administrative role, you'll be the first point of contact for the public, playing a crucial part in our daily operations. You'll work under the supervision of the District Manager and be responsible for a wide range of administrative and accounting duties. This is a great opportunity for a detail-oriented professional with a strong background in bookkeeping and customer service.
Your Responsibilities:
- Handle all aspects of bookkeeping, including payroll, accounts payable and receivable, and prepare for the annual independent audit.
- Manage financial tasks, including general ledger maintenance, bank statement reconciliation, and invoice processing.
- Serve as the primary receptionist, answering phones, directing inquiries, and providing excellent customer service.
- Prepare quarterly and annual tax reports.
- Perform general clerical duties, including filing, managing mail, and drafting correspondence.
- Assist the District Manager with budget formulation.
- Attend and prepare minutes for the Board of Trustees meetings.
- Work collaboratively with the team to solve administrative and accounting challenges.
Qualifications:
- An Associate's degree in accounting or business, or a minimum of three years of experience in bookkeeping or government accounting.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles.
- Proficiency with a 10-key adding machine.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Windows-based PC systems, including proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn Microsoft Word, Excel, and Caselle Government Accounting software.
- Valid California driver's license.
- Must be insurable with the District’s insurance carrier using the accepted guidelines of the insurance provider. A DMV records check will be made before employment is offered.
- Must establish that he/she is a United States citizen or an alien authorized to work in the United States before appointment.
Terms of Employment:
Work Hours: This is a 40-hour/week paid position. The workweek is Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Occasional overtime and overnight travel for training may be required. Earned overtime is accumulated as compensatory time off (CTO). Workers' Compensation is provided.
Pay: $55,538.29 to $82,250.90 per year. Please note that upon satisfactory performance, the beginning salary will increase by 5% after 6 months, and an additional 5% after completing 2, 3, and 4 years of employment with the District. The District reserves the right to change or alter this description at its sole discretion.
Benefits: The District participates in the CalPERS Retirement System. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, 12 paid holidays per year, 12 paid days of sick leave per year, and 10 to 20 days of paid vacation per year, based on years of District service. This is a represented position. Employees may participate in two different voluntary 457 Deferred Compensation plans and AFLAC. Employees are protected under the Workers' Compensation Laws of California. The District reserves the right to change or alter this description at its sole discretion.
