Insect Identification

May contain: person, human, furniture, chair, and microscope

We offer identification of insects and other arthropods, such as mosquitoes, flies, ticks, and kissing bugs.

How to submit a sample for identification:

Put the insect or arthropod in a hard-sided container (i.e. Gladware, mason jar, pill bottle, etc.) or a Ziploc-style bag.

If insects cannot be submitted immediately, then store them in the refigerator or freezer.   Tick or spider specimens should be stored in the refrigerator.

When possible, please submit multiple specimens.  This aids in identification when samples are damaged.

Please include your name, phone number, and any information about about where the sample was collected.  Samples may be mailed or dropped off at our office 7:30 AM-4:00 PM Monday-Friday.
